Charles kept in contact with many contemplative contemporaries. One was Basil Pennington who wrote a book entitled Centering Prayer – Renewing an Ancient Christian Prayer Form. Basil had also travelled to India to study Eastern methods of prayer and meditation and spent time in seclusion at Mt Athos in Greece. Basil played an instrumental role in bringing back the ancient practice of Centering Prayer to the modern world.
